The Danes are among the happiest people in the world. Just not in January-February. But the Danish “Hygge” culture helps.

I was in Denmark visiting during the second pandemic lockdown in January to March 2021. I still think sometimes about how I felt. It was colder than normal in winter. After long walks outside my joints were in pain. Then being mostly inside eating candy, chocolate and cakes in the afternoon and evening. I also remember the Danish prime minister’s covid crisis management, which I felt was excessive at the time.

In March 2021, I returned to the Dominican Republic. I had some trouble closing my offshore company, which was finally resolved last year. Now I only have one company in the Dominican Republic, Boyter Island SRL. During the pandemic, and soon to be 5 years ago, I started writing with sporadic social media posts. It developed into more of a blog and then last year a publication I call, “Becoming a Writer,” My writing has evolved into a chronicling — a journey shaped by diverse cultures, some entrepreneurial endeavors, personal challenges, and the pursuit of self-expression.

I feel I have reached a plateau but I will continue to self publish my publication online, aiming for monthly releases. There is a reason I call it “Becoming a Writer,” as I realize it takes a long time to become great at writing.
