My new exercise program

I joined Fitness World at Nørreport in Aarhus, Denmark. Over, 30 years ago I was a member at the same location where it had another name. It was while I was in high school and I was quite into it and was a member for almost two years. Since then I have lost count of how many times in the last 30 years I have started at a gym and then only trained a few months only to lose interest.

With swimming I have been more consistent. Especially in recent years. I enjoyed swimming in Santo Domingo where I lived most of the time while in the Dominican Republic and at the gym where I was a member I mostly did swimming. They had a great outdoor exercise pool with lanes. I tried training with weights but it never caught on and I tried pilates which I am also trying now here in Aarhus. In, Santo Domingo I could pause my membership for up to 4 months and I did several times. One time going to Miami to try that and another time when I had obtained a business license in the Cayman Islands. Every time I came back to the DR and had missed swimming in the pool at the gym which also has a good social life around it.

Twice a week now I swim around 1,500–2,000 meters here in Aarhus and I never seem to get tired of swimming but I can do maximum 1–2 times a week. Twice a week I plan to train with weights in the gym with a warm up on a bicycle which is a continuation of the rehabilitation program I took part in at the hospital after a heart attack I had in June. The rehabilitation program at the hospital lasted almost three months and now I have set my goal to do my own new program until the end of January and then I evaluate it and plan the next 2–3 months after that which I think is the most realistic time frame I can work with.

From experience I know I get tired of it. So in February I will pause my membership in the gym for a couple of months and do something different. I will have to see how long I stay motivated this time. At least it feels more natural to train with weights inside in a gym in a cold country in the winter.
