My blog site and writing in English.

For more than a year now, I have been building my blog on my website and on my social media. I publish my blog posts directly from my iPhone via the GoDaddy website builder App, so it makes it easy while traveling. I don’t have anybody to edit my writing so my English is a mishmash of Danish-English, English-English and American-English. I hope it gives my writing a unique style.

In the Dominican Republic, I know a professional American proofreader who I would definitely work with. She uses the “Chicago Manual of Style” and she looked through a text once and I liked what she did. She doesn’t do any editing beyond fixing true errors — spelling, grammar and word usage. I use the editing software ProWritingAid. I am fairly detail oriented but not a perfectionist. Sometimes I just go ahead and post. For my ebook, I would look at working with an editor.

I am very pleased when I get feedback about my way of writing. Regarding the topics and content, I am less concerned with criticism as I quickly move on with a new blog post. There is always something to write about although I will try to stick to some specific topics. An ebook I am working on could also be about this transition into blog writing and learning and improving my writing.

It makes sense to me to write in English considering that I lived in different countries and met people while traveling. I am guessing around 75–80% of my contacts have English as a strong second language. Of them, maybe around 20–25% have Danish as their first language but it’s decreasing as new followers are typically non Danish, especially on the platform Medium where I have started posting longer blog posts. My contacts/followers with English as a first language is maybe around 20% and also decreasing percentage wise.

On the train from Copenhagen back to Aarhus. In Copenhagen I walked around. Just needs a good pair of shoes. It has become my most important way of transport. I found out that Google Maps works on my Apple Watch even without Wi-Fi. I type the address in on my iPhone and then follow the directions on the watch.
